MindFreedom Ireland organized a gathering to launch a new book by dissident mental health professional, Dr. Terry Lunch, about 'Selfhood.' Irish Minister of State Kathleen Lynch TD performed the launch, praising Dr. Lynch's work for psychiatric survivors.

Mary Maddock of the MindFreedom International board of directors just contacted us with the sad news: After a long motor neurone illness, mad pride leader, poet and psychiatric survivor John McCarthy of Cork, Ireland died this morning at 61. VICTORY: Forced Electroshock of Glen K. in a New York Psychiatric Institution Halted!
Within 48 hours of the launch of a MindFreedom Alert Campaign, the Attorney General for New York announced today that Glen K. will receive no more forced electroshock under his court order. Rockland Psychiatric Center was giving involuntary electroshock over and against Glen's expressed wishes. [Update 3]

This MindFreedom International member, Christina Walko of Pennsylvania, is being forced to take many psychiatric drugs on an outpatient basis, even though she is living peacefully in the community. She says, "People do not heal when they are bullied or forced!" Her hearing is this Friday, 27 January 2012. Please take action.

Lynne Salvi's Open Letter to Her Mental Health Therapist

Lynne Salvi attended a number of MindFreedom Lane County meetings in Summer of 2011. She was quite a writer. Lynne died when she drove off a bridge in Portland on 23 September 2011. A little more than a month before, on 13 August 2011, Lynne had submitted this "Open Letter" to her mental health therapist Linda, via MindFreedom, to try to explain the extreme trauma she felt in conventional mental health care.
