Dear MindFreedom Supporter,
This is not a time for passive hope, but for decisive action.
As I write this, our fundamental rights and personal freedoms are under unprecedented attack. The recent Orwellian Executive Order “Ending Crime and Disorder on America’s Streets” represents a direct and brutal assault on the civil liberties of psychiatric survivors, persons with disabilities, and our most marginalized and victimized community members. They want to return us to the dark ages of mass segregation, forced drugging and forced electroshock.
But we refuse to be silenced. We refuse to go backwards.
I am Kristina “KK” Kapp, President & CEO of MindFreedom International, and I stand before you not just as an individual, but as living proof that those society has attempted to silence can become the architects of global liberation. My transformation from surviving institutionalization, dehumanizing treatment, and psychiatric oppression to leading the world’s premier human rights organization in mental health demonstrates the boundless potential within our community.
We are at a pivotal moment in history.
In June 2025, we re-established Mind Freedom International’s premier status as the only organization in the field of mental health that is accredited by the United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Consultative Roster Status. This caps our pivotal role in crafting the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) where the World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry and MIndFreedom International collaborated successfully to shift international law to establish that forced psychiatric interventions violates fundamental human rights. The tasks now are to have the CRPD ratified by the United States Senate and implemented around the world.
But recognition means nothing without action. And action requires resources.

The next phase of global human rights advancement will be led by those society has attempted to silence. We are the architects of the Rights Revolution. We are the ones we have been waiting for.
