Free Public Forum by Opal Network
Hear two special visitors from the east coast.
CELIA BROWN (photo on right) from New York City is a psychiatric survivor and a caring leader in the international mental health consumer/survivor movement.
Celia helped pioneer mental health peer support in NYC. She has led a team of mental health advocates into the United Nations, and trained activists in Ghana. Celia is board president of MindFreedom International, and is visiting Eugene for the first time.
JACKI MCKINNEY, MSW of Philadelphia is a survivor of trauma, addiction, homelessness and the psychiatric and criminal justice systems. She is a family advocate specializing in issues affecting African-American women and their children and is a founding member of the National People of Color Consumer/Survivor Network.

The Opal Network is a nonprofit Lane County coalition founded in 2007 to support the empowerment, voice and self-determination mental health service clients.
This free quarterly public forum is named for the Lane County author Opal Whiteley [1897-1992] who was confined for nearly 50 years in a psychiatric institution.
