Public Announcement about United Nations from MindFreedom Inernational

The International Disability Caucus (IDC), a consortium of more than 70 international, regional and national organizations of disability rights activists, welcomes and celebrates the completion of the work of the Ad Hoc Committee at the United Nations on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities. The World Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry (WNUSP) and MindFreedom/Support Coalition International worked together as members of the IDC to advocate effectively for the right to self-determination, autonomy and legal capacity for all persons with disabilities, including persons with psychosocial/mental disabilities.

On December 13 at the United Nations in NY, the General Assembly is scheduled to formally adopt the International Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
