Donate to the special MindFreedom fund honoring David W. Oaks to boost the MFI projects nearest and dearest to his heart!
As many of you know, our founder and executive director for the past 25+ years, David Oaks, recently suffered a serious accident and broke the C7 bone in his neck. David has a long road to recovery ahead of him and is going to need a lot of encouragement. As a way to show David that MindFreedom members and supporters are behind him 100%, the MindFreedom office has set up a special ACTION FOR OAKS fund in his honor that will be used to boost the projects nearest and dearest to David’s heart:
- MFI SHIELD AND SHIELD ALERT: a program to protect MFI members from unwanted/coerced psychiatric procedures. MindFreedom has won numerous Shield Campaigns to stop forced treatment and forced electroshock for individuals like Ray Sandford, Elizabeth Ellis, and Glen K.
- CREATIVE MALADJUSTMENT WEEK: Martin Luther King, Jr. said that “the salvation of the world lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.” These words have been an inspiration to David throughout much of his long, successful career as an activist — and the establishment of the first annual Creative Maladjustment Week (July 7-14, 2013) has been a longtime dream of David’s.
ACTION FOR OAKS – by donating to this special fund in honor of David, you’ll be keeping the spirit of his activism alive, and offering him priceless encouragement in the process!
Donating to the ACTION FOR OAKS fund is easy. Just click here to donate online, and make sure to check the box labeled “ACTION FOR OAKS FUND”. If you don’t want to donate online, you can send a check or money order made out to MFI to the MindFreedom office. Make sure to let us know it’s for the ACTION FOR OAKS fund, and if you like you can include a special note of encouragement for David and we’ll get it to him! Send your donation and optional note to:
