STOP THE FORCED DRUGGING OF DONNA JEANS

Donna Jeans is a psychiatric survivor living in the UK.  Although she is not a danger to herself or her community, she is being forcibly injected with the neuroleptic drug Seroquel every week.  Donna is requesting a Shield Alert be issued to demand that she be allowed to switch to an oral tablet so that she can taper off the drug.

Donna enjoys writing poetry (she has recently published poems online) and playing instruments such as the Celtic drum, the Persian drum, the tambourine, and the lyre.  Because neuroleptics are major tranquilizers that cause severe sedation, they interfere with the concentration needed to perform these activities.

Additionally, neuroleptics can have negative effects that seriously reduce one’s quality of life.  One of these effects is urinary dysfunction, which not only leads to infections but can cause urinary incontinence or bladder retention.  Severe bladder retention is a medical emergency that requires draining of the bladder to prevent it from bursting.  Other effects include dystonia (a neurological disorder that causes the body to twist and move in painful and awkward ways) and tardive dyskinesia (a movement disorder that causes uncontrollable, repetitive muscle movements in the face, neck, arms and legs).  When tardive dyskinesia affects the tongue, the friction of the movements can lead to open sores that make it painful to eat.

Donna has already developed dystonia and may be experiencing tardive dyskinesia.  Immediate action is needed to prevent further damage to her health.

Call to Action: Please contact Dr Nicole Nunn and Dr Priya Reddy and demand that Donna Jeans be allowed to taper off Seroquel, starting by switching from injections to an oral tablet.

  1. I had a notification saying the email could not be delivered. Do you have an alternative email address please? If not, I will write to them. Thanks.

  2. Dear Drs Reddy & Nunn,

I am writing regarding a patient named Donna Jeans. I am aware that Donna is being forcibly drugged with Quetiapine. Donna does not want this, and would like to be switched to tablets so that she can safely taper off them.

Donna is not a danger to herself or her community. Donna should have the right to refuse this method of medication. Quetiapine comes with a range of side effects which can interfere with normal activities and quality of life.

I was once forcibly drugged with Quetiapine myself while under section. I found this dehumanising, distressing and very harmful. I experienced many side effects and my quality of life was greatly diminished.

Patients should have the right to refuse treatment and methods of treatment that they believe aren’t suitable for them. In my case, I would have recovered if given some time and space and not forcibly drugged to the point that I couldn’t function.

I believe forced drugging is a violation of human rights. People should have a right to cognitive and bodily autonomy. Please respect Donna’s wishes and end the forced drugging which can cause serious harm and distress.

    Thank you very much.

    Kind regards,

    Fay Snow

Dear Dr Nicole Nunn and Dr Priya Reddy,

I’m writing regarding my friend, Donna Jeans

Since Ms. Jeans is a citizen and human being, in no danger to herself or others, and does not wish to be on a powerful psych drug injection that’s giving her unwanted debilitating effects, please switch her to oral pills so she can responsibly and safely taper off.

As a child of God, like myself and like you both, she should be given the right to decide what should or should not go inside her own body. She has one body, one brain and one mind, in her one life.. Let her live it as she pleases. She wants to be free to make her own decisions. As do we all. Thats why we have democratic societies in much of the world.

  4. Dear Dr. Nicole Nunn and Dr. Priya Reddy,

As someone who was forcibly placed on Seroquel as a child, the idea that any human being could be subjected to the same treatment is deeply disturbing. I have personally experienced neurological issues that I attribute to the drug.

All human beings deserve agency in making medical decisions for their body. Being able to refuse care or specific medications should be a fundamental right.

    Thank you,

  5. I sent the following, and my e-mail bounced.

“Dear Dr Nicole Nunn and Dr Priya Reddy,

“My understanding is that Ms. Jeans does not want injections of her medications, but would prefer oral medication, in hopes of tapering off.

“Also, my understanding is that this drug may have harmful side effects which she wishes to avoid.

“Please observe her God-given, natural right to decide on what should or should not be put into her body. It is her life and her body, and her mind. She should be free to make these decisions.

    “Thank you.

    “Alice Lillie”

  6. Hello,

I have attempted to send an email and it was not accepted by the mail system. I see Adam Lamb has received the same mail system message.

The message I sent was as follows,

“Dr Nicole Nunn and Dr Priya Reddy,

MindFreedom International has brought it to my attention that Donna Jeans is being forcibly drugged with Seroquel and that she is under your care. I am writing this email to protest against your administration of Seroquel against Donna Jean’s will.

I ask you to consider the medical axiom “first do no harm”. Donna has reported that she is suffering from the adverse effects of Seroquel. I know personally the dangers of Seroquel, especially when it is used continually rather than on an ‘as needed’ basis. When I was an adolescent I suffered from tardive dyskinesia induced by my consumption of Seroquel. I was taking the drug by consent and my doctor stopped the prescription immediately because the tardive dyskinesia could become a chronic disorder. I share my personal story with you to provide you an anecdote that confirms scientific facts about Seroquel.

Please be noble representatives of the medical community of doctors by showing empathy, compassion, and impartial reasoning. That is, reassess Donna Jeans needs for a successful rehabilitation and certainly do not force drugs upon her.

    Sincerely,
    Gregg T. Holliday
    US Citizen”

  7. Drs. Reddy and Nunn:

I respectfully demand that you stop the forced injection of neuroleptic drugs into your patient Donna Jeans who has asked her friends in Mind Freedom International to speak on her behalf.

I am a clinical psychologist in America with 42 years of experience. There is no place in a civil society for forced drugging, especially when the patient–like this one–is no threat to anybody.

Taper her off Seroquel at once as she is already experiencing severe adverse reactions to this powerful chemical.

    Thank you.

  8. The Shield notification did not work for me.

To Doctors Nicole Nunn and Dr. Reddy,
It has come to my attention that Donna Jeans has not been allowed to make her own choices in choosing her medications. She wishes to not get injections of Seroquel. This is her decision, her choice. She has to be allowed to take the tablet form, and to titrate off as she deems in her best interest.

  9. I have been subject to forced neuroleptics for over 24 years. My problems began with seroquel early on causing extreme adverse effect mania, hypertension, akathisia and tardive psychosis. Of course, this was diagnosed as my illness. Psychiatry is horrid.

Send this and got this rely.

Forced psychotropics and ETC is condemned by organisations including the UN as torture. They cause harm and no benefit and are used to render people docile and submissive is pursuit of control. They are essentially chemical straight jackets and chemical restraints and offer no benefit to health, well being, functioning or quality of life, in fact the opposite destroying people’s health, well being, functioning and quality of life. They cause extreme and terminate brain and neurological damage and destroy life, some serious and life threatening, which destroy lives and renders people permanently disabled and in a life long state of extreme torture and torment. A fate worse than death. These are indeed dangerous and toxic chemicals and should be banned. Unfortunately psychiatrists and health professionals are not educated around the dangers and toxicity of these chemicals. I urge you to update you knowledge and awareness of the serious issue to prevent harm to individuals and potential death. It it well known that neuroleptics are the most toxic and cause perminate, irreversible and brain tissue loss, deflation immediately after use. Informed consent is a human right and this is the guidance of countless organisations including the WHO and the UN, that is not being abided by. I commit you to educating yourselves around these serious issues and explore other option that to improve the determinates of health and lead to good outcomes that the current status qou of psychiatry is failing to address. There are many resources, authors and proffessionals you could refer to in updating you knowledge and awareness of this serious issue effecting millions of people.

End forced psychotropics and ECT as torture and instate informed consent consistant with human rights and WHO and UN demands to end these atrocities. The fear, terror and harm coercive treatment inflicts physically and psychologically for no benefit can not be underestimated and is a matter of priogative to end torture, threat to life and safety in health care.

End forced treatment now. This is unacceptable, is not safe, is not appropriate and is ineffective treatment and care destroying millions of lives worldwide. I employed you to update you knowledge and awareness and fight the side of good to end torture, death and human rights violations in health care by psychiatry, miseducation and misinformation.

It is your responsibility to be informed and to continually update your medical knowledge and awareness around these serious issue.

Forced psychotropics and ECT must not be tolerated and must be a priogative to end.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I suggest you begin by looking up the dangers of these chemicals and ECT and the extreme and permanent harm the cause. You could begin with perminate akathisia a fate worse than death. There are plenty of videos and resources available.

    Your sincerely,

    Adam.
