Update: November 9, 2024

Kedrick’s treatment team is refusing to allow him to move up a level, which would give him more privileges. They claim this is because he sleeps too much, even though extreme lethargy is a side effect of the drugs he is being forced to take. Additionally, they still have not given him a reasonable discharge plan.
Please contact the following people and urge them to:
1) move him to Level 4 so he can have more privileges and
2) provide him with a reasonable discharge plan so he can return home.

Update: October 7, 2024

Two months after we published his alert, Kedrick Tucker is still imprisoned at Connecticut Valley Hospital. He submitted a petition for release, but it was denied. He is suffering from eye pain due to the excessively bright lighting as well as stomach issues due to not receiving adequate food. Please continue contacting hospital decision-makers to urge them to discharge him.

Overview

Kedrick Tucker is a songwriter who has been in psychiatric detention at Connecticut Valley Hospital (CVH), Battell Hall, 4 North since June 21. 1. Thank you for your email. Effective 10/3/2024 at 4:30pm- I have resigned from my position at Catholic Charities. Someone from Adult Advocacy will be managing calls and messages after my departure beginning Friday 10/4/2024 at 8am.

  2. Dr. Subbarao:

I am interested in the case of the above-referenced patient.

Please give Mr. Tucker more privileges as he appears to deserve them. If he is excessively sedate, taper down his medication.

Additionally, please formulate an appropriate discharge plan as Mr. Tucker does not appear to be at risk and should be maintained in the least restrictive environment possible.

    Thank you.

Mind Freedom Shield Alert – Kedrick Tucker

Below is a link to a page on the Mind Freedom International website regarding Kedrick Tucker. Kedrick is a young man who has been involuntarily hospitalized in a Connecticut psychiatric unit for some time now.

It is legion that psychiatric involuntary hospitaliation goes glove in had with psychiatric drugging. This of sourse puts him at rist of tardive dyskinesia, diabetes, nuerological damage, and myriad other issues of which we on this forum are so very familiar.
If you can, please take the time to read the posts on Mind Freedom aobut Mr. Tucker, as well as the posts documenting the forced treatment David Russell, Juba Mahiou, Jill Kesti, Lisa Espinoso and Jason Hewlett, among others documented on the main page of Mind Freedom.

It is a gross injustice that we are subject to drugs that do us consiberable harm, as is so frequently and eloquently documented in this forum by so many of you. As if the lack of informed consent isn’t enough of a travesty, being forced, actively or passively, to consume these treatments of dubious effect is another circle of hell entirely.

We are currently at 416 members and growing. We are a strong group as well as a very robust group. As individuals we are at many different places on this painful path and in our numbers, our sharing of our stories, and our camaraderie, we gain strength.

Please consider writing to the persons responsible as indicated on the Mind Freedom Shield Alerts. By doing so you add your voice, experience, and numbers to to balance. The weight of these growing numbers will and can tip the balance.

We are a strong people. I am always amazed at the quality of posts and the information presented. I am humbled by the strength that comes through the words as people tell their stories here, pushing through the pain themselves so that others may know.

    You are amazing!

  4. Thank you for making this public. It was the first link that popped up when I searched Kedrick Tucker, because I haven’t heard from him in a month. He’s an amazing person. He’s got musical talent, strong and true ideas, and is a victim of our horrible society. I will do what I can to support him.

  5. I sent email messages to Dr. Subbarao and CEO Hyatt. I also left messages for Dr. Subbarao and Elena Lasnia who is filling in for Mr. Beavers.

    • On September 14. 2024, I called Dr. Bollepalli Subbarao
      Psychiatrist “treating” Kedrick
Phone number: (860) 262-5000 (Press 1 for CVH and the number went to the police department. The person I spoke with then transferred me to the voicemail for Dr. Subbarao, where I left a message to “release Kendrick, and that he is not a danger to himself or others.”

  6. Here’s what I wrote. I keep it brief as I think it’s more likely to be read is brief.

“Dear Dr. Subbarao and CEO Hyatt,

“Please release Kedrick Tucker, who has not committed a crime and is no danger to anybody. He wants his freedom back and there is no reason why he should not be free like the rest of us.

    “Thank you.

    “Alice Lillie”

    • I wrote a short letter asking for the release of Kendrick and said he was not a danger to anyone
asked that they help him to flourish with his musical talent by giving him his freedom
I kept mine to a short paragraph
