YouTube video: David Oaks describes a new MadPride initiative, the International Association for the Advancement of Creative Maladjustment (IAACM) inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr.. Oaks calls for activists to help steward King’s vision of a non-violent revolution by recording and uploading videos, pictures and files to Flickr, YouTube, and other websites, that reflect experiences with, or alternatives to, the mental health system. Oaks announces that MindFreedom will have contests and will give awards to see who best reflects King’s vision for creative maladjustment, for material that is tagged ‘IAACM’ and brought to MFI’s attention.

Martin Luther King, Jr. said repeatedly that the world was in dire need of a new organization, “The International Association for the Advancement of Creative Maladjustment.” Apparently none ever was created in a formal sense… until MindFreedom and the Mad Pride movement.
