As you know, MindFreedom International is experiencing a increase in the volume of requests we receive from people in distress. From the steady stream of calls and emails, it is clear that:
  • Tens of thousands are under treatment orders in their communities.
  • Tens of thousands are locked up and receiving treatment by force.
  • People aren’t receiving adequate protection.
  • Hundreds of thousands are at risk of dying prematurely from harmful psychiatric treatment.
The voices of those who already died prematurely due to their psychiatric ‘treatment’ is deafening.
After decades of heroic organizing by some of our movement’s most talented and visionary leaders, with support from our allies in the scientific community – our voices – the voices of psychiatric survivors, family members, and allies – are still systemically silenced.
When words fail and voices are systematically silenced, it is time for action.  It is time to recognize new voices, broaden and strengthen our movement, and organize! The recent protest at the annual APA conference on May 6th and the virtual counter conference is  just the beginning.
With generous support from the Foundation for Excellence in Mental Health Care (FEMHC) MindFreedom International will host a free webinar on Sunday, June 24 at 5:00 pm EST entitled: Voices for Choices: Organizing to End Forced Psychiatric Treatment.
Places are limited to 100, so reserve your place and register today by clicking HERE.
As a member, you are receiving this message one week prior to non-members. In one week, registration will be on a first-come-first-serve basis to all individuals regardless of their membership status.
